This can happen even while it’s still in the packaging, resulting in areas that appear darker, duller, or slightly tarnished rather than bright and shiny. This is not a fault or defect, but a normal characteristic of bare copper reacting with air and moisture. If you prefer a polished finish, the surface can be easily restored using a jewellery polishing cloth, fine steel wool, or a gentle acidic clean such as lemon juice or vinegar, followed by rinsing and drying. Many makers also enjoy this natural ageing process, as it can add depth and character to finished pieces.
