Description
Darwi Roc Modelling Material 1kg Block – Strong, Smooth & Built to Last Darwi Roc is a premium air-drying modelling material designed for strength, precision, and a beautifully smooth finish. Supplied in a solid 1kg block, this clay-like medium is perfect for sculptors, crafters, and hobbyists who want a durable result without the need for firing. Unlike softer air-dry clays, Darwi Roc holds fine detail exceptionally well and dries to a hard, stone-like finish with minimal shrinkage. It’s ideal for sculptures, figurines, decorative objects, and any project where strength and surface quality matter. Why you’ll love it:
How to Use Darwi Roc
- Prepare your workspace
Work on a clean, smooth surface. Keep a small amount of water nearby for smoothing and joining. - Condition the material
Cut off the amount you need and knead it until smooth and workable. If slightly firm, add a small amount of water and continue kneading. - Shape your design
Sculpt using your hands or tools. Darwi Roc is excellent for fine detail and holds its shape well. - Joining pieces
Score both surfaces lightly and apply a small amount of water to help bond them securely. - Refine details
Smooth surfaces with a damp finger or tool. Add texture or fine detail as desired. - Drying
Allow to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Drying time varies based on thickness but typically ranges from 24 to 72 hours. Turn occasionally for even drying. - Finishing
Once fully dry, sand, drill, or carve as needed. Paint, varnish, or seal to complete your project.
Texture & Appearance When Dry
Texture:
Darwi Roc dries to a very hard, dense finish with a smooth, almost stone-like feel. Compared to standard air-dry clays, it feels less chalky and more solid, with a fine, tight surface that responds well to sanding and polishing. It has a subtle grip rather than a powdery feel.
Appearance:
The dried surface is clean and refined with a matte to slightly satin look, depending on how it was smoothed before drying. It has a light, neutral stone tone, making it an excellent base for painting or leaving natural for a minimalist, sculptural look.
Handy Tips
- Ideal for thinner, detailed work due to its strength
- Avoid very thick sections to reduce risk of cracking
- Store unused material airtight to prevent drying
- Seal finished pieces if they will be exposed to moisture
A reliable choice when you want your creations to feel solid, smooth, and made to last.
